Soy for Men

More good news is that men can also benefit from soy. Researches show that Japanese men do develop prostate cancer just like those in the US, but the seriousness of their tumors indicates a big difference. For one, their tumors are smaller in size compared to American men’s. Prostate cancer which comes with a much lower death rate and small tumors is known as latent prostate cancer. This type of prostate cancer hardly ever develops into the more serious stage where the patient’s life is being threatened.

Number of factors are at play here, but the International Prostate Health Council announces that the consumption of soy foods is one of them. For instance, a study conducted in China has found men eating the most soy foods had only half the chance to be diagnosed with prostate cancer as men eating the least soy foods. What is at work here? Animal studies prove both isoflavone-rich soy protein and isolated isoflavones considerably work against the development of prostate cancer. Moreover, laboratory experiments illustrate that injecting isoflavones to prostate cancer cells puts them in a much more cooperative state to radiation treatments destroying cancer cells. Therefore, it can be concluded that isoflavones stimulate the more effective eradication of prostate tumors.
